Recall the days when your socks had to match your shirt, your hat had to match your shoes, and the more that matched the merrier? We thought those days had passed. Good thing you kept those orange socks. The runways have been flooded with monochromatic themes. Different shades (or sometimes even the same shade) within the same outfit to create an awesome update to the old school trend. Head to toe monochromatic colors make for a stunning effect. Black isn't the only color that can get away with it. See Halston, Albino, Bottega Veneta, Alessandro Dell'Acqua and Allegra Hicks' take on the new trend.

Talent Should Always Look This Good

Well look who outfitted Ms Thang for the MTV Movie Awards? Ok, ok, she actually outfitted herself, but the dress is courtesy of Acrimony! We love the yellow cummerbund and intense jewelry paired with the Quail reversible dress. Cool digs for cool people. Congrats to Priya and Dan (collaboratively MAYO - mind all your outsides) who picked up the "Best Filmmaker on Campus" award at the MTV Movie Awards. Their mission is just about as good as their sense of style. MAYO is all about creating the perfect image, feel and overall identity unique to each project. Looks good, smells fresh.

Double Up Tuesday vol.1

The long anticipated Tuesday night party is finally here. Acrimony and the Brooklyn Circus present "Double Up Tuesdays" at Otis. Mingle with us this Tuesday, June 17th, for the kick-off. Mottainai

As hybrid cars and energy efficient light bulbs are becoming more and more attractive, the sustainable clothing world has yet to really evolve. Not in our minds at least. So when we stumbled upon Mottainai, a Brooklyn based brand, we were happily surprised. The word Mottainai in Japanese translates into "what as waste." Their garments are "for those who understand the importance of environmental stewardship and whose modern lifestyle demands innovative creations." 

It's a mystery to me why sustainable clothing can't be designed just like non-sustainable clothing...with good taste and minus the tree bark.

A Peace Treaty

A Peace Treaty is "an evolving collection aimed at creating ethically-produced, artisan-level accessories and apparel for the luxury fashion marketplace." We love these ladies and their conscious efforts! Their Spring collection of scarves and stoles sold out like Fanta on a hot day. We are excited to be receiving the Summer collection next week! Not Prada "ECO"...are you crazy? Prada GREEN! As in the color of emeralds, algae and dollar bills. The most recent Resort 09 collection proved to be laced in our most favorite color. Muccia Prada's collection mixed large jeweled accents with animal inspired prints, perfect for those that actually "resort" in November. Most of us are just starting to freeze our buns off.
